Protect Yourself! Know If a Labor Dispute Could Affect Your Event
The Diplomat Beach Resort Contract Expired August 31st, 2022
We are the union of hospitality workers in South Florida, including The Diplomat Beach Resort workers. The Diplomat Beach Resort is owned by Brookfield Asset Management, who generated a record $12.4 billion of total net income in 2021. South Florida hospitality workers were hit hard by the pandemic, the Diplomat Beach Resort workers were out of work for over a year. Now is the time to do right by them. They need wage increases and safe workloads.
We fought to get the Diplomat Beach Resort to open its doors in 2021. We pushed hard and won an agreement with Brookfield to get workers back to their jobs. We represent workers that have served customers at the property for decades. Now, our collective bargaining agreement with the Diplomat Beach Resort expired on August 31st, 2022. We ask that you call the hotel to you make sure that your current event contract language protects your event in the case of a labor dispute. Model Protective Language for Event Contracts can be found here.
